Counselor - Mrs. Burris

Good Character…… pass it on!

Hello everyone.  As counselor at Armuchee Elementary I would like to help you become familiar with our program.

Each month we emphasize one character trait.  Students who best exemplify the trait of the month will be recognized as Student of the Month for their respective class. Representatives will receive a Student of the Month certificate, a t-shirt (provided by the Armuchee Ruritan Club), restaurant certificates, the representative’s name will be announced on our morning show, and their picture will be displayed on our Student of the Month bulletin board.  The character words emphasized are:

These character traits are building blocks of good citizens and we feel that the core values of good character are important to the development of our children.  At Armuchee Elementary we strive to immerse our students in the teaching of good character.  We work to turn our guiding principles into guiding practices.

As school counselor, individual counseling is provided for our students on as needed basis or on a requested basis. Throughout the sessions children are encouraged to identify the issues of concern for them that day, to take ownership in their choices, and to recognize behavior and choices have consequences.  The Reality Therapy model is utilized during individual sessions.

I take pride in helping your child develop socially, emotionally, and academically.  At times, children just need to talk to someone, and during those individual times a goal of self-improvement is identified and discussed. I enjoy watching our students development throughout the years at AES as I serve in the role of AES School Counselor.
